For those who didn’t know, I’m in Laos this month till the 26th! So no real art updates! :/ I am maintaining a travel journal though. So till then, here’s a picture of my husband bear emerging from the rainforest where we trekked a couple of days back!
I’m a little late in posting September favourites but here it is anyway! Not a very exciting month! 1. Fluorescent Markers: I bought some Staedtler Text Surfer marker pens. So much fun! 2. Only Lovers Left Alive (film) A film that the husband made me watch. So much visual and music inspiration! 3. Spicy Buttermilk (majjige): Bad stomach and bad weather life saver! Buttermilk with salt and green chillis. 4. DIY glitter ink: Fed up of not being able to get some shimmery glittery inks I wanted for a project, I’m attempting to make my own. If it lasts and works out well on the long run I’ll post about it 5. Moss from Ooty: My husband went to this moss covered forest in Ooty and brought back some moss. We didn’t know whether it would live or not, but it’s bursting with life! 6. Moddy’s Peanut Butter Chocolate fudge (from Ooty): Some insane Ooty chocolate! Thanks to a certain friend who was there! 7. Jozef Van Wissen and SQURL: Their collaborative music (made mainly for the movie I mentioned above) is some of the best music I’ve heard off late! So much moody, psychedelic Moroccan feelings!
Today’s #inktober sketch. How I normally sit and draw/work: elbows dangerously resting on a pile of something, knees almost touching the ground. Please note- the girl is for rep purpose only! I’m not so fit 😬#copicink #pentelbrushpen #staedtler #textsurfer #ballpointpen #cretacolour #graphite
Current workspace: so I shift my laptop and work areas around to different parts of the studio as I get bored. Right now I’m working on 3 publication projects simultaneously. 2 book covers and a set of 20+ illustrations for a book. I need to finish almost all by the 10th so this is my new setup: 2 glasses of buttermilk, highlighter pencils, all my concept notes, hard disk for backing up, tablet and a planner telling me what I need to do everyday.
Now crunch time starts : if you don’t hear from me , send help :P
Sailor’s Grave According to myths, mermaids: half-woman, half-fish creatures were believed to seduce sailors into the sea, to their eventual death by luring them with their enchanting songs. This is my take on this classical sailor tattoo. This was a reminder to sailor’s that the sea is dangerous no matter how enticing it can be. Here I used mixed media ranging from paper, paint, glitter, rhinestones and fabric. Aug 2014
